DESCRIBE YOUR DRINK-MAKING STYLE.
Showtime! When it comes to making drinks and entertaining my guests, I definitely like to put on a show for them. Bartenders are hosts and entertainers and I absolutely love leaving guests amazed. I love using elements that are going to stun my guests i.e. fire, smoke, liquid nitrogen etc... I want people to remember their experience and keep coming back for more.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR MAKING GREAT DRINKS?
Look for inspiration beyond bars and bartending books. Look through culinary books and restaurant menus. There is inspiration all around us. Also, have fun pairing certain fruits, herbs, or vegetables. Don't be afraid to think outside the box.
WHAT'S SOME INSIDER KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BARTENDING THAT MANY PEOPLE MAY NOT KNOW?
We don't appreciate when people reach into our garnishes with their bare hands. If you want something, ask for it. Bartending takes a toll on the body and we are exhausted by the end of the night, we work for tips and we work hard for it. Always tip your bartender, if you take care of them they WILL take care of you. Last but not least, be patient and be kind. A bartender never forgets the troublemakers, poor tippers, rude and rowdy guests.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON RUM AND YOUR DRINK, THE RUM PUNCH?
Rum will always have a special place in my heart as it pays homage to my culture and my family. Rum is what my family drinks when we celebrate together and for all the holidays. Rum is actually such a versatile spirit and could be used alongside another spirit for some added depth to your cocktail. I am so honored to be a part of the DRNXMYTH team and have my first cocktail featured with Rum. Cheers!
